Two Pritzker Prize winning architects, Alvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura are featured in a+u 19:03. The Portuguese duo have been collaborating together for the past 45 years, starting when Souto de Moura worked for Siza. The issue includes their latest work, including projects they designed together.<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>An essay by Nuno Grande describes Siza as having an organicist sensibility, contrasted with Souto de Moura s more rationalist view. Their approaches are apparent in the design of their individual projects. However, the buildings they collaborate on never resemble the work of either, but rather, represent a "third" personality. |
